Social Committee Charter

Purpose:

To foster and enhance social interaction, and to facilitate and promote social opportunities and events for homeowners to gather and share interests and activities. This Committee’s goal is to improve neighborhood camaraderie, fellowship and a sense of community within a safe environment.

    

Responsibilities:    The Committee’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Identify social activities, projects, and events which will interest PR homeowners.
  2. Develop an annual social and recreational plan, and identify any financial assistance that may be needed from the Board in its annual operating budget.
  3. Organize and conduct most social activities, projects, and recreational programs on a self-sustaining basis.
  4. Maintain records and written meeting minutes to ensure transparency of all activities and expenditures.
  5. Keep the Board of Directors informed of the Committee’s activities via the Board liaison and seek approval for any major events.
  6. Develop and coordinate with the Board and other committees, as needed, any homeowner surveys, flyers, pamphlets, and invitations intended for distribution.
  7. Write articles for the Board’s “Pheasant Runner” newsletter and publish an events calendar for the PR residents.

Membership:

The Committee shall consist of no less than three (3) community member volunteers who have ownership voting rights. The Committee members will be approved by the Board and the members will select a Committee Chairperson from amongst the members. The Committee will meet as needed, but no less than once per quarter.

 

Term:

Committee members serve for a term of one (1) year, with terms expiring at the annual meeting. Member terms will be automatically renewed for consecutive one-year terms unless the Committee members resign or are dismissed.

 

Authority:

The Committee is given the limited authority necessary for the reasonable execution of the stated purpose and responsibilities of this charter. It functions in an advisory capacity presenting specific written recommendations to the Board as appropriate. An assigned Board member shall act as the liaison between the Committee Chairperson, members, and the Board of Directors. The Committee Chairperson (or designee) will be allotted time under the monthly Board Meeting Agenda “Committee Reports’ section to provide verbal reports and address any Board concerns.

 

The Committee is not authorized to obligate the HOA financially or legally in any manner. The Board has the right to amend this Social Committee Charter should it be deemed appropriate and necessary.
